Quiet Lanes - Macclesfield Forest

Quiet Lanes is an initiative to improve the way walkers, cyclists and horse riders share the use of rural roads with motor vehicles.

In October 2003 residents, businesses and users of the Forest confirmed that Quiet Lanes in Macclesfield Forest was a good idea. During October and November 2004, the Borough Council in partnership with Cheshire County Council and other agencies invited comments on the detail of the scheme, including

  • signage
  • entry treatment
  • treatment of rural roads
  • village gateway treatment
  • Ridge Hill, Sutton
  • temporary signing

More information is available from Cheshire County Council’s Quiet Lanes pages.

Work was complete in 2005.
